If I Were A Painting

If I were a painting in a museum
People would comment my palette is too subtle and
Too muted.
People would comment I'm
Not bold enough-
That I'm not a statement piece.

If I were a glass
People would say I'd been filled too much
And
Was on the verge of being spilled.

If I were a doormat,
People would criticize that
Too many people walk all over me.

But me?
I'd say I'd be a true work of art as a painting-
I'd say I couldn't help being the glass when someone else was the pourer-
And I'd say "I don't mind the dust."

Because if you're striking and I'm subdued,
Who's to judge glass half empty
Or glass half full.
